Wilson Tanner - II
Wilson Tanner’s pacific, unbuttoned debut 69 seduced imaginations in 2016, with East and West coast lighthouses Andrew Wilson (Andras, A.r.t. Wilson, Berko) and John Tanner (Eleventeen Eston) uniting in musical ode to Perth paragons like the “portumus pelagicus” (the Blue Swimmer Crabs of the Swan River) and Errol Tout, by way of Growing Bin Records. Now the duo come home to Michael Kucyk’s fabled Efficient Space label with a collection of songs recorded on 1950s riverboat, electronically tethered by a long extension cord. Tender piano meditations and seafaring songs; meandering guitar and flute folk, scrabbly mallett melodies and submerged noise noodling might describe the upshot of this peculiar communion with Victoria's Port Phillip Bay. A touch stormier than their previous and truly magical, II is an eternally listenable maritime storybook of ambiguous emotion and intuitive collaboration.
