Ramzi – Multiquest Niveau 1: Camouflé
Ahhh… when Phoebé Guillemot’s RAMZi project delivers another spyglass study of her planetoid, Earthlings draw a breath. From the dub-tempo deepness of “Kombat,” with bumping accompaniment from Jumanjí, to the flaunted flute jam finale, with C.K. U Kno; Guillemot fills Camouflé with visions of a covert liberation operation.
The first in a new 11-part series called Multiquest Niveau, RAMZi begins to reveal her plan to save “the Grey world” from a zombie apocalypse as she moves subtly across the sleeping terrain (“under the guise of a poodle moth hidden by nimbi”), recruiting beings for the resistance, building solidarity. Eleven parts of a “battle-talisman” hum henceforth - the sultry jungle-edge-city house of “Rubicon,” the windswept concertina “Balmi,” the - well, trancehall - of “Trancehall,” piquing ears appetizingly, and the hydrous breaks of “O Saati ^ for Aileen,” to mention a few.
RAMZi’s sound is beyond comparison, a heroine of overlooked and forgotten spheres, a champion of interspecies collaboration. Start collecting these quests and whatever you do, don’t look back.
