Davy Kehoe - The Pilot
About time for another Davy Kehoe puzzle piece to materialize, smoking, from the ether. Two years since the divine Short Passing Game dropped on Dublin’s Wah Wah Wino - the hankered-after platform for founders / operators Omid Geadizadeh, Olmo Devin & Morgan Buckley to commit weirdness with their dearest - The Pilot collects two epic, wailing, side-long jams. On the A side, chugging rhythms, gritty guitar, singing mouth-harp, choked vocals and general synthesized insanity imbue this contemporary Kraut Xanadu with a roisterous house party feel. On the other, a muffled, shadowy and ketted out groove takes hold, with elements of the former jam performing behind a veil of smog. Sources, and the empirical ear, suggest familiar characters from the Wah world worked together on the smorgasbord, with Davy at the helm. Nothing less but always more than we’ve come to expect from this corner of the world.
