How can music and sound participate in environmental restoration practices?

Commend partners with Music for Land, a group of environmental artists and musicians collaborating with NYC Parks to imagine riverside restoration events accompanied by music, for an open discussion ahead of their coastal clean event, at Louis Valentino Jr. Park in Red Hook on Saturday May 26th.

Rooted in deep listening practices, can sounds performed by humans enhance stress relief and well-being for the non-human world and so enable respectful inter-species relationships? What does it imply to play music for non-human life?

We will engage in an open discussion with musicians, music therapists, healers, ecologists, environmental activists and artists to investigate these ideas and beyond.
