Booker Stardrum - Crater
Not a house you've been to before, though many look those you've seen. The conceptual location for Booker Stardrum's third album could be something out of a Dario Argento film, without the actual horror. Sumptuous, maximalist percussion is the centerpiece and Booker's forté, with acoustic instruments sampled and in agreement with the guiding character of each piece. The pieces are organized with an attitude of chaos and a tight arrangement. Absolutely a stunner of an album, and especially recommendable to those of you who are fans of the late Jon Hassell's last few albums.
